First Night Button Art Unveiled
This year’s admission button celebrates art in all its forms.
November 5, 2007 (Akron, OH)— Downtown Akron Partnership has unveiled the artwork that thousands of revelers will wear in button form on New Year’s Eve. Featuring vibrantly colored characters that represent the diversity of First Night artists, the admission button radiates First Night fun.
First Night Button Artist Linda Hutchinson, Kent, included the script “Celebrating the Arts in Akron” in the artwork—an invitation to community members from every neighborhood and neighboring city to share in the First Night experience.
“Akron has much to offer in the way of theater, dance, music and the visual arts,” said Hutchinson. “I wanted the button to celebrate art in all its forms and its ability to enrich our lives.”
Hutchinson is a painter whose works include drawings, watercolors and oils. She teaches drawing and painting through continuing education programs at The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, Kent City Schools and The University of Akron.
