Volunteers Still Needed for First Night Akron 2011
Application Deadline Extended
First Night Akron needs volunteers to lend a helping hand on December 31, 2010. Volunteers are a critical part of the celebration that rings in the New Year and showcases the arts to the community. First Night volunteers hold a variety of responsibilities including greeting guests, checking for admission buttons, introducing performing artists, assisting with hands-on activities, acting as bus hosts and much more!
The application deadline for volunteers has been extended to Friday, December 17. Applications can be downloaded here: www.firstnightakron.org/volunteers. Those interested may also contact Jane Startzman at 330-535-3179 or jstartzman@akroncivic.com to apply. Two Volunteer Orientations will also be held next week at the Akron-Summit County Public Library in Downtown Akron on the following days:
Wednesday, December 15: 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
Thursday, December 16:10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Volunteers are admitted free to all performances and sites before or after their scheduled shift. Friends, families, couples and groups are encouraged to volunteer together. Volunteers receive a special volunteer ribbon to wear at the event, as well as an invitation to the annual Volunteer Party held in January.
Volunteers are essential to First Night's success. They are the face of First Night, wishing guests a Happy New Year and helping direct them to their next destination.
