The Search is On for First Night Akron 2011 Artists and Performers
Artists of all Disciplines Interested in Participating in First Night’s 15th Year Encouraged to Submit Proposals By Friday, June 18
Downtown Akron Partnership seeks local and regional artists to participate in First Night® Akron 2011 on December 31, 2010. Artist proposals are being accepted for all performing and visual arts, including, but not limited to: music, dance, theater, puppetry, film, visual art/ installation art, interactive/participatory activities, literary/storytelling/poetry activities and make and take activities. Special consideration will be given to projects that incorporate the celebration of First Night’s 15th Year or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) elements.
First Night is a great opportunity for artists of all disciplines to showcase their talent and expand their creativity in order to wow the community on New Year’s Eve.
All performers are paid. Selection is based on artistic merit, quality of support materials, technical feasibility and availability of funds. Please note: Deadline for proposals is Friday, June 18, 2010.
Interested artists should complete an application form online, available at www.firstnightakron.org/artistproposals. Applications can also be downloaded from this link and mailed by Friday, June 18, 2010 to: First Night Akron, Downtown Akron Partnership, Greystone Hall, 103 S. High St., 4th Floor, Akron, OH 44308. It is recommended that you view the PDF application prior to filling out the form online to make sure you don’t miss any details.
Artists Invited to Informational Meeting on Thursday, June 3
All artists interested in applying for First Night are encouraged to attend an informational First Night Akron Artist meeting Thursday, June 3, 4 p.m. at Greystone Hall (103 S. High St., 4th Floor). Artists will learn about new, exciting things happening at First Night this year, enjoy the opportunity to meet other First Night Akron artists, and discuss ideas and projects.
